48th SAS hackathon focusing on green technologies starts

The 6th edition of the SAS 48 Hackathon in Muscat has kicked off with the theme of “Green Tech”. Organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the event aims to bring together entrepreneurs and experts in various sectors to develop innovative solutions using green technology to address environmental issues. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry.

Participants in the hackathon will focus on sectors such as logistics, agriculture and food, renewable energy, environment, and joint sectors. They will work together in teams to come up with practical solutions that promote the use of electric vehicles to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, as well as improve energy efficiency and optimize plant water and nutrient needs. Additionally, they will explore ways to increase productivity, enhance food supply chains, minimize food waste, and increase the efficiency of resources like water, energy, and raw materials.

The SAS 48 Hackathon provides a platform for participants to address challenges facing their projects and develop realistic solutions. A jury will evaluate the ideas presented by the 1,163 participants in order to select the top three winners with the most innovative solutions. This event offers a unique opportunity for individuals to showcase their talents and creativity in finding sustainable solutions to environmental issues.
