Doha, Qatar – Sekou Yansane propelled Al Ahli to a decisive 4-2 victory over Al Shamal in a thrilling Qatar Stars League match at Al Thumama Stadium on Wednesday. Yansane’s standout performance, a complete hat-trick, marked a significant win for Al Ahli as they climb the league standings. The match saw a flurry of goals in the opening minutes, setting the stage for an exciting contest.

The fast-paced encounter began with Yansane opening the scoring in the 3rd minute, capitalizing on a pass from Erik Exposito. Al Shamal quickly responded, leveling the score in the 7th minute with a header from Alex Collado off a corner. However, Yansane regained the lead for Al Ahli just two minutes later with a well-placed shot.

Al Ahli’s Victory Boosts Qatar Stars League Position

Yansane’s hat-trick was the cornerstone of Al Ahli’s performance, demonstrating their attacking prowess. The win moves Younes Ali’s team to 15 points, drawing level with Al Duhail, who are scheduled to play Al Shahania today. This result is particularly important for Al Ahli as they aim to solidify their position in the competitive Qatar football landscape.

Al Shamal, despite the loss, remain in a strong third place with 21 points, narrowly ahead of Al Arabi and defending champions Al Sadd. Mohammed Omar managed to pull one back for Al Shamal following an unsuccessful clearance by the Al Ahli defense, but Yansane’s 74th-minute goal sealed the victory for his team.

Match Details and Key Performances

The game’s intensity was evident from the outset, with both teams showcasing attacking intent. Vlap extended Al Ahli’s advantage in the 22nd minute, again assisted by Exposito. Yansane completed his hat-trick with a solo effort, skillfully navigating past defenders before converting a one-on-one opportunity against goalkeeper Babacar Seck.

Meanwhile, in a separate match held at Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium, Al Arabi secured a narrow 1-0 win against Al Wakrah, thanks to a 39th-minute strike from Rodri Sanchez. This victory places Al Arabi seventh in the standings with 16 points.

Speaking after the match, Al Ahli coach Younes Ali expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance. According to reports, he stated that the win was deserved, praising the players’ concentration and resilience despite some key absences. He acknowledged that conceding goals from set pieces remains an area for improvement.

The Qatar Stars League continues to be a tightly contested competition, with several teams vying for the top spots. Al Sadd’s upcoming match against Qatar SC will be crucial as they look to close the gap on the league leaders. The league is known for its growing international profile and increasing investment in player development.
