Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Brussels to present his Victory Plan to EU leaders, seeking additional support. He claimed that North Korean army officers are on temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory, with intelligence services suggesting that 10,000 troops are being trained to join Russian forces. Zelenskyy warned of escalating tensions and the possibility of a world war due to foreign involvement on the front lines. He emphasized the importance of receiving help from allies like NATO to increase Ukraine’s chances against Russia and provide hope for the future after the war.

Zelenskyy’s Victory Plan includes joining NATO as a way to deter Russian aggression and establish a “security umbrella” for Ukraine. However, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte remained non-committal about Ukraine’s membership, focusing on strengthening the country’s position for future negotiations with Russia. Zelenskyy believes that obtaining nuclear weapons or joining NATO are the only ways to end the war and prevent further conflict with Russia. He has discussed the issue with outgoing US President Joe Biden and potential successors Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, receiving support from the latter.

As Ukraine faces continued hostility from Russian forces, Zelenskyy reiterates the urgency of joining NATO to ensure the country’s security and future stability. He sees the alliance as a crucial partner in defending against Russian aggression and avoiding the need for nuclear weapons. Zelenskyy’s five-point Victory Plan outlines the steps needed to achieve victory in the war by next year, with the first point being an invitation to join NATO. The Ukrainian president stresses the importance of international support in establishing a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Zelenskyy’s claims about North Korean involvement in the conflict highlight the escalating tensions in Ukraine and the potential for wider international conflict. He warns of the dangers posed by foreign soldiers on Ukrainian territory and urges swift action from allies like the EU and NATO to counter Russian aggression. Zelenskyy’s visit to Brussels aimed to garner support for his Victory Plan and secure additional aid for Ukraine in its fight against Russian forces. By focusing on building a strong international coalition, Zelenskyy hopes to end the war and create a path towards peace and stability for Ukraine.
