British Prime Minister Sunak reacts to accusations of betting on election date

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has found himself at the center of a scandal involving allegations that Conservative politicians bet on the date of the UK’s July 4 national election before it was officially announced. Sunak expressed his anger over the reports during an appearance on the BBC’s Question Time programme, stating that anyone found using inside information to place bets on the election date should face legal consequences and be expelled from the Conservative Party.

The scandal has surfaced just two weeks before the general election and amid challenging polling results for the Conservatives, who are currently trailing behind the Labour Party by 20 points.
