Ms. Maragadham, a Tamil Nadu native, recently faced difficulties in returning to India from Bahrain due to visa and passport issues. She arrived in Bahrain on a visit visa but believed she had obtained a work visa. However, subsequent employers failed to provide the necessary work visa, and her passport remained with an agent, making it challenging for her to travel back to India.

Fortunately, Annai Tamil Mandram, a social welfare organization in Bahrain, stepped in to assist Ms. Maragadham. The President, Mr. Senthil GK, the Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Lalithkumar, and the Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, Mr. Arun Ramalingam, worked together with Ms. Maragadham to reach out to the Indian Embassy for support in resolving her situation.

With the Embassy’s assistance, Ms. Maragadham was able to retrieve her passport from the agent and proceed to the Immigration Department. However, due to her overstay, she faced a penalty of BD 1,000. Annai Tamil Mandram, along with the Indian Embassy, successfully advocated for a waiver of this penalty, which was graciously granted by the Bahraini government.

Thanks to the collective efforts of the Indian Embassy, Bahrain government officials, and the Tamil Nadu government, Ms. Maragadham is now set to return to India on August 17, 2024. This positive outcome serves as a testament to the compassion and cooperation shown by all parties involved in resolving the case.

The Annai Tamil Mandram extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful resolution of Ms. Maragadham’s situation. They hope that she can now enjoy a safe and peaceful return to her homeland, thanks to the support and assistance provided by the various parties involved in helping her navigate the visa and passport issues she faced while in Bahrain.
