Germany’s Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala displayed a stunning performance as they contributed to each other’s goals in a 5-0 victory against Hungary in Duesseldorf. The young forwards showcased the bright future of German football following the retirements of key players from the 2014 World Cup winning team. Wirtz and Musiala, both 21, alongside 25-year-old Kai Havertz, demonstrated their talent and potential to lead the national team into the 2026 World Cup.

In the match, Wirtz assisted Niclas Fuellkrug for the opening goal after 27 minutes, showcasing his playmaking abilities. Musiala extended Germany’s lead in the second half after receiving a long pass from Wirtz, proving their telepathic connection on the field. The Bayern Munich forward then returned the favor by providing an assist to Wirtz for his goal. Additionally, Aleks Pavlovic scored his first goal for Germany, and Havertz sealed the victory with a penalty kick.

With the recent retirements and departures from the national team, Germany is in a transitional phase with new faces stepping up to fill the void left by the veteran players. Joshua Kimmich was named captain, Pascal Gross took over Toni Kroos’ role, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen donned the number one jersey for the first time. The convincing win against Hungary suggests that the young squad has the potential to compete at the highest level in international football.

Julian Nagelsmann, the manager, made tactical changes by starting Fuellkrug and Havertz upfront, which paid off with goals from both forwards. Wirtz’s assist to Musiala for the second goal showcased their chemistry and understanding on the pitch. The duo continued to impress with goals and assists, highlighting their impact on the team’s attacking play. The convincing win against Hungary sets a positive tone for Germany as they prepare to face the Netherlands in their next match.

Despite Hungary’s early resistance, Germany’s dominance grew as the match progressed, with Wirtz and Musiala leading the charge in the attack. The goals from Pavlovic and Havertz further solidified Germany’s superiority on the day. The team’s performance showed that they have the talent and ability to compete against strong opponents and set their sights on future success in international competitions. As Germany looks ahead to upcoming fixtures, they will aim to build on this performance and continue their winning streak in the qualifiers.
