The first edition of the art carnival Aalekh ’24 recently took place at the Indian School in Isa Town, Bahrain. The winners of the Inter-school painting contest were honored at a grand finale held at the Jashanmal Auditorium. The event saw participation from around 3,000 students from different schools and was organized by the school’s Art Education Department. Chief Guest Nayla Shakeel, representing the Title Sponsors Shakeel Group, distributed trophies and cash awards to the winners at the prize distribution ceremony.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon. Vice-Chairman Dr. Mohammed Faizal, and other members of the executive committee. The winners were divided into four categories based on age groups, with the Group Painting Harmony and Art Wall categories also recognizing outstanding talent. Names of the winners in each group were announced, including children as young as 5 years old showcasing their artistic skills.
In Group 1 (ages 5-7), Hannah Bright from The Indian School took first place, followed by Ardra Rajesh and Mohammed Eisa Navas. Group 2 (ages 8-11) saw Srihari Santhosh, Adhuna Banerjee, and Andrea Shervin Vinish from various schools winning the top three positions. Vaigha Vinod, Mathumitha Natarajan, and Elina Prasanna emerged as winners in Group 3 (ages 12-15). In Group 4 (ages 16-18), Theertha Sabu from the Asian School secured the first position, followed by Anghana Sreejith and Devkrishna Rajendra Kumar Vadayil from The Indian School.
The Group Painting Harmony category recognized the collaborative efforts of Anannya KS, Sree Bhavani Vivek, and Asita Jayakumar from The Indian School, among others. The Art Wall category, which was open to participants above 18, saw Jesus Ramos Tejada, Vikas Kumar Gupta, and Avinash Sadanandan receiving top honors for their creative artwork. The winners in each category received their certificates, recognizing their talent and hard work in the field of art.
