The Omani stock market ended the week on a positive note, with a gain of 1.04 percent, driven by improved investor sentiment and external factors such as developments in the US economy. Joseph Dahrieh, Managing Principal at Tickmill, stated that the softer US inflation data has led to expectations of the Federal Reserve initiating its easing cycle in September, which could impact central banks in the region and lead to more favorable credit conditions and economic growth. Despite the positive performance, the market remains within a one-year price range and may need additional catalysts to climb higher.

Sector performances were generally positive, with the financial sector leading the way with a 1.27 percent increase. Banking stocks such as Bank Muscat, Bank Dhofar, and National Bank of Oman saw significant gains. The services index also showed strong growth, with companies like Abraj Energy Services and Renaissance Services performing well. The industrial sector, although more modest in its gains, still contributed positively to the market’s overall performance.

One potential catalyst for the Omani stock market’s growth could be the Financial Services Authority’s new incentive program for the Omani capital market. This initiative aims to deepen the market and achieve Oman Vision 2040 objectives by encouraging larger companies to go public and creating a market for smaller entities. The program offers various incentives such as tax benefits, fee waivers, and preferential treatment in government tenders, which are expected to enhance market liquidity and attract investments.

In conclusion, the Omani stock market ended the week with a positive performance, driven by improved investor sentiment and external factors such as developments in the US economy. Sector performances were mostly positive, with the financial sector leading the gains. The market could benefit from the Financial Services Authority’s new incentive program, which aims to enhance market liquidity and attract investments. By staying abreast of market developments, investors can make informed decisions and potentially capitalize on opportunities for growth in the Omani stock market.
