The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center in Oman has issued a weather alert warning of a depression originating from the Arabian Sea that is expected to impact the country from August 5 to August 7, 2024. The Civil Aviation Authority has forecasted increased cloud cover and scattered rainfall across most governorates of Oman during this period.

On Monday and Tuesday evening, widespread cloud formation is expected over most governorates with cumulus clouds likely to develop in the Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas. Heavy rainfall, ranging from 25 to 50 mm, is anticipated in certain regions, leading to potential flooding in reefs and valleys. Strong winds ranging from 15 to 35 knots may also cause unstable materials to be displaced and reduce visibility during thunderstorms and dust storms.

Wednesday, August 7 is expected to see continued cloud formation and scattered rain, with thundery conditions possible along the coasts of certain governorates. Similar to the previous days, wind speeds will range between 15 and 35 knots with potential dust storms. Coastal areas may also experience rough waves up to four meters in height.

Residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates and exercise caution during this period of unsettled weather. It is important to take necessary precautions to ensure safety and minimize potential risks associated with heavy rainfall, strong winds, and rough waves. Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.

In conclusion, the weather alert issued by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center highlights the potential impact of a depression originating from the Arabian Sea on the Sultanate of Oman. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period of inclement weather. Monitored closely for any developments and adhere to the advice provided by local authorities to minimize risks and stay safe.
