Warming storms to victory at Qatar Oaks at Al Uqda Racecourse

Warming, owned by Khalid bin Ghanem M Al Kuwari, emerged victorious in the QA-Listed Qatar Oaks for Thoroughbred Fillies at the Al Uqda Racecourse. Trained by Hamad Al Jehani and ridden by Szczepan Mazur, the bay filly secured a neck victory over Forever Blue on Day One of the Qatar International Derby. The win earned Warming a spot in the H H The Amir Shalfa race 2025. Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, presented the winners with their awards, highlighting the filly’s success.

In the Local Thoroughbred Oaks for Fillies, Doha Bu Thaila, ridden by James Doyle and trained by Alban de Mieulle, secured a commanding 2 ½ length victory for owners Wathnan Racing. The daughter of Harry Angel extended her flawless record to two wins from two starts in Qatar, marking a successful day for the owner, trainer, and jockey trio at Al Uqda track. Another highlight of the day was RB Mary Lylah’s impressive win in the Purebred Arabian Oaks for Fillies, claiming her ninth career victory with a 1 ½ length margin under Doyle.

Razika, owned by Wathnan Racing, stormed to a 1 ¾ length victory in the Local Purebred Arabian Oaks for Fillies, earning the racing stable its first win of the day. Trained by De Mieulle and ridden by Doyle, Razika’s win was the second of her career. In the Purebred Arabian Oaks for Fillies, Ihtijaj, owned by Al Shaqab Racing, maintained her unbeaten record in Qatar with a narrow ¼ length victory. Trained by Jean de Mieulle and ridden by Olivier d’Andigne, Ihtijaj secured her second win in Qatar, continuing her impressive streak.

Jalila Alghania, trained by Mohammed Nasser Al Naimi and owned by Alghania Stud, claimed victory in the Local Purebred Arabian Oaks for Fillies, edging out her rivals by ½ a length. Al Jalilah, owned by Al Wasmiyah Farm, emerged victorious in the Local Thoroughbred Novice Plate by 1 ½ lengths, while Glory Of The Stars, owned by Hassan Ali A M Alabdulmalik, clinched the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate with a dominant 3-length victory. Gaeeda Al Shahania, owned by Al Shahania Stud, opened the day’s races by securing the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate by a length.
