The US Dollar saw a rebound after the Euro hit a 14-month high due to investors shifting their investments from the US to Chinese equities following a stimulus plan announced by the Chinese government. Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler’s speech on the US economic outlook will be closely watched, along with the US Q2 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) release and Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s speech scheduled for Thursday. The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported a surge in weekly mortgage applications, while New Home Sales are expected to soften in August. The CME Fedwatch Tool shows a 41.6% chance of a 25-basis-point rate cut at the next Fed meeting in November.

The US Dollar Index (DXY) is flirting with a 15-month low following the data from Tuesday and China stimulus triggering a further devaluation of the Greenback. The US Dollar Index technical analysis shows the upper level of the September range at 101.90, with possible further gains to 103.18. On the downside, the first support level is at 100.22, and a break could signal more weakness ahead. The US Dollar remains strong for now, with the Fed playing a key role in shaping monetary policy in the US through interest rate adjustments.

The Federal Reserve (Fed) holds eight policy meetings a year, where the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) assesses economic conditions and makes monetary policy decisions. The Fed has two mandates: to achieve price stability and foster full employment. Quantitative Easing (QE) is a non-standard policy measure used during crises or when inflation is extremely low. It involves the Fed printing more Dollars and using them to buy high grade bonds from financial institutions. Quantitative tightening (QT) is the reverse process of QE and is usually positive for the value of the US Dollar.

Overall, the US Dollar is showing signs of strength despite recent fluctuations in response to economic data and global stimulus measures. The coming days will be crucial as key economic indicators are released, which could impact the currency’s performance. Investors will be keeping a close eye on the Federal Reserve’s policy decisions and statements from Fed officials, as they play a significant role in shaping the US Dollar’s value in the global market. With uncertainties surrounding the US economy and global trade tensions, the US Dollar’s performance remains a key focus for investors and analysts.
