University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) President Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi has announced that the university is all set to enter the new academic year with more than 7,500 students, including 1,500 freshmen. These students will be enrolled in five colleges offering a wide range of programs in business, computing and information technology, engineering and technology, health sciences, and general education. Dr. Al Naemi attributes the increasing demand for enrollment to the university’s focus on applied research in collaboration with prestigious local and international entities. The Qatari students, making up 20 percent of the total student population, are particularly interested in programs related to business and computing and information technology.

The University of Doha for Science and Technology has been able to align its programs with the needs of the Qatari and global job market, leading to high demand for its offerings. Dr. Al Naemi highlighted the importance of international accreditations obtained by some programs, which are developed after consultations with employers to ensure they meet labor market needs. In the upcoming academic year, UDST will introduce new programs designed to address professional and technological needs, contributing to economic growth locally and globally. These new programs include a Bachelor of Business Administration in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, a Master of Science in Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship, a Bachelor of Science in Digital Communication and Media Production, a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Cybersecurity, and a Master of Science in Process Safety, among others.

Dr. Al Naemi emphasized UDST’s commitment to targeted applied research and partnerships with prominent local and international entities. The university has collaborated with the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council to conduct research with various organizations, ministries, and companies, providing students with future job opportunities. UDST has also participated in joint research projects with global universities such as the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto in Canada, as well as universities in Singapore and Indonesia. These collaborations have not only enhanced students’ research and professional skills but also improved the quality of education at the university, ensuring its graduates are well-prepared for the job market.

The University of Doha for Science and Technology’s focus on applied research and partnerships with prestigious institutions has positioned it as a leader in providing programs that meet the needs of the evolving job market. Dr. Al Naemi’s vision for the university is to continue expanding its offerings to ensure students are prepared for the professional and technological demands of today and tomorrow. By introducing new programs and collaborating with global partners, UDST is not only enhancing the educational experience for its students but also contributing to economic growth locally and globally. This commitment to research and industry partnerships sets UDST apart as a forward-thinking institution focused on preparing its students for successful careers in a competitive global landscape.

In conclusion, the University of Doha for Science and Technology under the leadership of Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi is gearing up for the new academic year with a strong focus on applied research and partnerships that meet the needs of the local and global job market. The university’s commitment to targeted programs and collaborations with prestigious institutions ensures its graduates are well-equipped for successful careers in a rapidly evolving world. With an emphasis on new programs designed to address professional and technological needs, UDST is poised to make a significant impact on economic growth both locally and globally. The future looks bright for UDST as it continues to innovate and adapt to the changing demands of the workforce, providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive job market.
