The unemployment rate in Bahrain has increased by 102% over the past five years, according to MP Mohsen Al-Asboul. The number of unemployed individuals went from 8,000 in 2018 to 17,000 by the end of 2023, showing significant growth. Al-Asboul stressed the importance of taking urgent action and implementing effective programs to address this crisis. He described the situation as a real crisis with economic, social, and security implications, emphasizing the need for serious measures to tackle the issue. The MP also highlighted the violations related to the employment of foreign workers over Bahrainis, expressing concern over the failure to replace Bahrainis in various positions.

In a session of the Council of Representatives, MP Mohsen Al-Asboul revealed alarming statistics regarding the unemployment rate in Bahrain. The number of unemployed individuals has surged by 102% over the past five years, rising from 8,000 in 2018 to 17,000 by the end of 2023. These findings were detailed in the Administrative and Financial Control Report 2023-2024, highlighting the need for urgent action and effective programs to address the escalating crisis. Al-Asboul described the situation as a real crisis with significant economic, social, and security implications, underscoring the importance of taking serious measures to tackle the issue.

The Financial Audit Bureau report also pointed out violations related to the employment of foreign workers over Bahrainis, raising concerns about the lack of replacement for Bahrainis in various positions. Some foreigners have occupied roles for over 15 years without being replaced, further complicating the unemployment crisis. Al-Asboul emphasized the need to address these issues and ensure that Bahrainis are given priority in employment opportunities to reduce unemployment rates and boost the economy. Implementing effective programs and policies to promote the hiring of Bahrainis can help alleviate the unemployment crisis and create more job opportunities for the local workforce.

The escalating unemployment crisis in Bahrain requires immediate attention and action from authorities to prevent further economic, social, and security implications. MP Mohsen Al-Asboul emphasized the need for urgent measures to address the issue and implement effective programs to tackle the growing unemployment rate. The statistics revealed in the Administrative and Financial Control Report 2023-2024 highlight the severity of the situation and the importance of taking serious steps to reduce unemployment and create more job opportunities for Bahrainis. Al-Asboul also raised concerns about the violations related to the employment of foreign workers over Bahrainis, urging authorities to prioritize the hiring of locals to address the unemployment crisis.

The failure to replace Bahrainis in various positions and the prolonged employment of foreigners in roles that could be filled by locals further exacerbate the unemployment crisis in the country. MP Mohsen Al-Asboul expressed concerns about the lack of opportunities for Bahrainis and the need to create more job opportunities for the local workforce. Implementing policies and programs that prioritize the hiring of Bahrainis over foreigners can help reduce unemployment rates and boost the economy. Addressing violations related to the employment of foreign workers and ensuring that Bahrainis are given equal opportunities in the job market are critical steps in mitigating the unemployment crisis and promoting economic growth in Bahrain.
