Starting July 1, parking at Dubai Mall will no longer be free in some areas, with the potential for the maximum tariff to reach up to Dh1,000 for a 24-hour period. However, some parking areas will remain free, and certain individuals are exempt from paying parking fees. The barrier-free system that will facilitate entry and exit at the car park will be operated by Salik Company PJSC, Dubai’s exclusive toll gate operator. To learn more about the parking facilities, Salik has provided answers to some frequently asked questions.

Paid parking areas at Dubai Mall will include Fashion, Grand, and Cinema parking zones as of July 1, 2024. On the other hand, Zabeel and Fountain View parking will not be subject to fees and will remain free for the time being. People of Determination are exempt from Dubai Mall parking fees, but they must apply for this exemption through Salik channels. Vehicles exempt from Salik fees, such as People of Determination, police, ambulances, and civil defence, are also exempt from parking fees at Dubai Mall.

Parking fees at Dubai Mall are calculated based on the number of hours a vehicle spends in the parking lot and are deducted from the Salik account upon exiting the facilities. The rates for parking on weekdays (Monday to Thursday) and weekends (Friday to Sunday) vary depending on the hours of stay. The parking system operates by capturing a vehicle’s plate number upon entry, processing the information through the Salik system, and recording the entry time. Upon exiting, the system scans the plate number again, calculates the parking fees, and deducts the amount from the identified Salik account.

To use the Dubai Mall parking facilities, individuals must have an activated Salik tag and account. There is a grace period of up to 4 hours on weekdays and 6 hours on weekends before parking fees are imposed. Visitors can dispute parking fees by contacting the Salik customer service or visiting a customer happiness center. Salik tags can be purchased online, through Careem Quick, or at petrol stations across the UAE. Currently, only Dubai Mall parking fees can be paid using the Salik balance, and fines for insufficient credit or an inactive Salik tag will be automatically deducted once the account is recharged.

The parking fees gradually increase until reaching a maximum limit of Dh1,000 for 24-hour parking, after which overstaying vehicles may be reported to authorities such as Dubai Police. Any pending parking transactions will be deducted from the Salik account upon reconciliation. Parking transactions statements are consolidated with toll transactions but are segregated in different sections of the report. Motorists are advised to monitor their Salik account balance regularly to avoid falling below a certain threshold.
