The Kingdom of Bahrain has experienced a significant increase in tourist arrivals in 2023, with over 12.4 million visitors entering the country. This marks a substantial rise of over 2.4 million compared to the previous year, showcasing the steady growth of the tourism sector in Bahrain. The country has been focusing on developing its tourism industry, aiming to solidify its position on the regional and global tourism map through various programs and events held throughout the year. The statistics released by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) indicate a rise in tourist arrivals through King Fahd Causeway, Bahrain International Airport, and the seaport, demonstrating the sector’s robust performance.

In 2022, the total number of tourist arrivals across all entry points reached 9,948,632, while in 2023, the figure jumped to 12,406,810, showcasing a substantial increase. December 2023 emerged as the peak month for tourist arrivals, welcoming a total of 1,219,739 visitors. King Fahd Causeway was the most popular entry point, receiving 1,060,274 tourists, followed by Bahrain International Airport with 120,982 and the seaport with 38,483. On the other hand, February 2023 recorded the lowest number of tourist arrivals throughout the year, with a total of 922,790 visitors, with the majority arriving via King Fahd Causeway.

Similarly, in 2022, December witnessed the highest number of tourist arrivals with 1,111,956 visitors, with the majority arriving through King Fahd Causeway. February saw the lowest number of arrivals in both years, indicating a trend of higher tourist numbers during the peak months. The continuous growth in tourist arrivals highlights Bahrain’s success in attracting visitors from various regions. The country’s diverse offerings, including cultural attractions, historical sites, family-friendly activities, and world-class events, have contributed to its increasing popularity as a tourist destination.

Overall, the surge in tourist arrivals in Bahrain in 2023 reflects the country’s efforts to enhance its tourism sector and establish itself as a top destination in the region. The increase in visitors through key entry points such as King Fahd Causeway and Bahrain International Airport demonstrates the sector’s strong performance and the appeal of Bahrain as a tourist destination. With a wide range of attractions and activities to offer, Bahrain has successfully drawn in tourists from all over the world, contributing to its growing popularity in the global tourism market. As the country continues to prioritize tourism development, it is expected that Bahrain will see continued growth in tourist arrivals in the years to come, further solidifying its position as a top travel destination in the Middle East.
