In the current landscape, more young people are opting for creative subjects in pursuit of unique career opportunities. Fields such as culinary arts, jewellery making, modelling, and fashion design are gaining popularity, offering global prospects in cities like Milan, Paris, Tokyo, and New York, as well as roles on cruise ships. This shift towards entrepreneurship has led to an increased investment from individuals seeking success in these glamorous industries. Thai expat and professional model Ploy Sadanun Pothikangrit, who moved to the UAE six years ago, shares her journey of breaking into the Middle Eastern market as an Asian model.

Ploy’s story reflects the opportunities available in Dubai for aspiring artists, with state-of-the-art design studios, art festivals, famous design schools, and a thriving local market. Embracing her passion for modelling, Ploy has transitioned into entrepreneurship by starting her own model agency company, showcasing her growth and dedication to the industry. She emphasizes the importance of following one’s passion and being prepared to seize opportunities when they arise, urging others to pursue their dreams relentlessly.

Similarly, 21-year-old Tejasvi Sandeep Gurjar, a UAE-raised graduate of Amity University Dubai’s Bachelor of Fashion Design program, aspires to launch her clothing line inspired by her childhood passion for fashion. Tejasvi’s experience working with a fashion brand alongside her studies has provided valuable industry exposure, preparing her to venture into entrepreneurship and develop her own brand. With a focus on Indo-western designs, Tejasvi aims to combine traditional and contemporary styles in her future clothing line, leveraging her expertise in garment design.

The establishment of the first permanent campus of ‘L’ÉCOLE Middle East’ in partnership with Dubai Design District (d3) is an exciting development for aspiring jewellery artists in the region. This school of jewellery arts aims to expand its impact and engage a diverse audience by offering courses that explore the art, history, and intricacies of jewellery design under the guidance of experts and industry professionals. Dubai’s rich cultural diversity provides a vibrant backdrop for creative pursuits, further enhancing the learning experience at the institute.

Dubai’s growing reputation as a global center for design and creativity has attracted institutions like L’ÉCOLE, reinforcing the city’s commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in creative industries. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recognizes Dubai’s role as a hub for business enterprise and creativity, offering opportunities for knowledge exchange across various creative fields. By hosting L’ÉCOLE’s headquarters in the Middle East, Dubai further solidifies its position as a leading destination for creative education and industry partnerships.

In line with the growing demand for professional culinary training in the UAE’s thriving hospitality and tourism sectors, Symbiosis International University is set to introduce a culinary program in Dubai in the near future. Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro Chancellor of Symbiosis International University, highlights the popularity of the Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts and the employability of culinary arts graduates in the restaurant and hospitality industry. With the rise of Indian chefs globally, the Culinary Arts program in Dubai aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in this competitive field and potentially launch their own culinary ventures.

Overall, the trend of young entrepreneurs pursuing creative careers in fields like fashion, jewellery, and culinary arts reflects a growing interest in unique and innovative pathways to success. Dubai’s burgeoning creative sector, coupled with its supportive environment for business and creativity, provides a conducive setting for individuals to follow their passions and cultivate their entrepreneurial aspirations. Whether through modelling, fashion design, jewellery arts, or culinary arts, aspiring artists and entrepreneurs in Dubai have access to diverse opportunities and resources to propel their careers forward in the competitive global market.
