Heavy fog engulfed the highways in several parts of the country on May 29th, causing motorists to drive at slower speeds due to reduced visibility. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red warning and advised caution to drivers to expect traffic and delays during the morning rush hour. In response to the heavy fog, Abu Dhabi Police implemented a dynamic speed control system, reducing speed limits to 80 km/h on certain roads and urging motorists to stay vigilant.

While the fog created treacherous driving conditions, the sun eventually broke through, illuminating the tall towers in JVC and around Dubai Cricket Stadium. Residents were advised to stay updated on the latest news and weather conditions to ensure their safety while driving in the fog. The weather forecast predicted fair conditions overall, with increasing humidity by night and a possibility of fog or mist in some coastal and internal regions.

In addition to the foggy weather, minor earthquakes were reported in the Oman Sea, causing slight tremors that were felt by residents in the UAE. An earthquake of 3.1 magnitude struck near Ras Al Khaimah followed by another quake of 2.8 magnitude, both occurring at a depth of 10km. While the earthquakes did not have any significant effects in the UAE, residents were reminded to stay prepared for natural disasters and follow safety protocols in case of emergencies.

As motorists navigated through the heavy fog with caution, it was important for them to follow the guidelines recommended by authorities to ensure their safety on the roads. With visibility dropping to less than 1,000 meters in some areas, drivers were advised to refrain from using hazard lights as it could cause confusion for other vehicles. The implementation of speed limits and dynamic control systems by Abu Dhabi Police aimed to minimize accidents and maintain order on the roads during the foggy weather.

Despite the challenging driving conditions caused by the heavy fog, the weather forecast indicated that winds would remain light to moderate, occasionally freshening. The sea conditions were expected to start roughly in the morning towards the west but calm to moderate or slight in the Arabian Gulf, with slight conditions in the Oman Sea. Residents were urged to stay informed about the changing weather patterns and to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety while traveling during the foggy weather.
