The UAE golfers showcased their talent and dominance at the 2024 Pan Arab Ladies’ and Youth Golf Championships in Tunisia, securing five out of six individual medals across two divisions. Anca Mateiu led the clean sweep of the individual competition, alongside teammates Aasiya Saleem and Sara Abubaker, who also impressed with their performances. The UAE Under-16 Girls’ Team clinched the Team Gold, highlighting their skills and solidifying the country’s presence on the international golf stage.

Anca Mateiu’s exceptional performance, with strong rounds of 66, 66, and 70, earned her a commanding seven-shot victory in the Individual Division. Her teammates Aasiya and Sara secured second and third place respectively, highlighting the UAE’s dominance in the competition. The team successfully defended their title from last year, showcasing their consistency and determination on the golf course.

In a competitive Ladies’ Division, Morocco’s Sofia Essakali claimed the top spot, with the UAE’s Intissar Rich securing second place. The UAE team also put up a strong performance in the Ladies’ Team Division, finishing second behind Team Morocco. Despite the tough competition, the UAE golfers displayed their skills and determination throughout the championship.

The tournament featured eleven countries, including Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon, showcasing the diversity and competitiveness of the field. Both the Ladies’ and Girl’s Under-16 divisions were held over 54 holes, with World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points available. The event highlighted the growth of golf in the region and the potential of young talents emerging from the UAE and other Arab countries.

The impressive performance of UAE golfers at the Pan Arab Ladies’ and Youth Golf Championships demonstrates the country’s rising status in the international golf scene. With Anca Mateiu leading the way and her teammates showcasing their skills, the UAE team’s success in both the Team and Individual divisions reflects their dedication and passion for the sport. As the championship continues to grow and attract top talent from the Arab region, the future looks bright for golf in the UAE.
