The United Arab Emirates is set to experience a warm and humid weekend, beginning November 23rd, 2024. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach the low 30s Celsius across most of the country, with particularly high humidity levels expected in inland areas. Residents are advised to plan outdoor activities for the cooler morning and evening hours and stay hydrated to avoid heat-related discomfort during this period of warm UAE weather.

This shift in conditions follows a period of fog observed earlier in the week. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reports that while the fog is clearing, the increased moisture will contribute to the warmer, more humid feel over the next two days. Drivers should exercise caution during early morning commutes due to potential lingering mist and reduced visibility.

Weekend Weather in the UAE: A Detailed Forecast

The upcoming weekend marks a transition in the UAE’s typical autumn climate. While evenings will remain comfortably cool, particularly inland, the daytime warmth will be noticeable. According to the latest NCM data, Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah are expected to see the coolest overnight lows, dropping to around 17°C on both Saturday and Sunday.

Coastal cities, including Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi, will experience slightly warmer overnight temperatures, hovering between 17°C and 18°C on Saturday. These milder evenings present an ideal opportunity for outdoor exercise and social gatherings. However, the daytime heat will necessitate protective measures.

Humidity and Visibility Concerns

High humidity levels are a key factor in the weekend’s forecast. The NCM predicts humidity could reach up to 95% in Al Ain, and remain above 90% in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This elevated moisture can lead to the formation of mist or fog, particularly during the early morning. Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distances, and use fog lights where appropriate.

The Ministry of Interior has also issued a reminder for drivers to be vigilant and adhere to traffic regulations during periods of reduced visibility. They emphasize the importance of maintaining a safe speed and avoiding sudden braking maneuvers. Poor visibility is a significant contributor to traffic accidents, especially during the transitional seasons.

Temperature Variations Across the Emirates

While a general warming trend is expected, temperatures will vary slightly depending on location. Al Ain is currently forecast to reach a high of 32°C on Sunday, the warmest expected temperature across the Emirates. Light to moderate winds, ranging from 10 to 30 km/hr, are anticipated throughout the weekend, offering some relief from the humidity.

In contrast, more northern emirates like Ras Al Khaimah may see slightly lower peak temperatures. The combination of cooler nights and moderate daytime warmth makes this weekend particularly favorable for outdoor activities throughout much of the country. This is a welcome change as the UAE moves closer to the peak of its cooler season.

Detailed forecasts suggest the following specific conditions:

  • Saturday: Across much of the UAE, expect highs of 30-32°C accompanied by humidity levels between 70-95% and winds of 10-30 km/hr.
  • Sunday: Temperatures will generally remain similar to Saturday with highs of 30-32°C. Humidity is projected to decrease slightly, falling to 70-90% in most areas, while winds will persist at the 10-30 km/hr range.

This weekend’s weather forecast builds upon a pattern of increasing temperatures observed throughout November. While the transition to cooler weather is underway, intermittent periods of warmth and humidity are still common. Monitoring the daily reports from the NCM remains vital for making informed decisions about outdoor plans.

Looking ahead, the NCM indicates a continuation of similar weather patterns into the beginning of next week. While no significant temperature drops are predicted immediately, long-range forecasts suggest a potential for more pronounced cooling towards the end of November. Residents should continue to check the official forecast channels for updated information on temperature in UAE and any advisories related to humidity and visibility. The seasonal shift remains dynamic, thus regular updates are crucial for staying prepared.

The persistent high humidity can also affect individuals with respiratory conditions. Health authorities advise those with asthma or other breathing difficulties to take extra precautions and limit prolonged exposure to the humid air. Staying indoors with air conditioning during peak humidity hours is recommended in such cases. The factors impacting climate in UAE contribute to these conditions.
