The UAE is currently in the process of repairing the roads and infrastructure that were damaged due to the unprecedented rainfall and floods that occurred last month. Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, recently visited the affected areas to assess the progress of the rehabilitation work. The ministry’s top priority is the safety of residents and protecting their properties.

One of the key projects highlighted by Al Mazrouei is the construction of a rock berm project, which is meant to provide a permanent solution to protect roads on the eastern coast from future damage. The Ministry is also working on expanding the capacity of dams and building a more efficient rainwater drainage network to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As a result of the heavy rainfall in April, the 103 dams and lakes managed by the Ministry retained 40 million cubic metres of water, which is half of their total storage capacity. The Ministry has devised an integrated operational plan to repair the damaged roads and enhance the rainwater drainage network to ensure preparedness for future rain events.

Al Mazrouei emphasized the importance of collaborating with strategic partners to improve the country’s infrastructure and resilience to floods and rain. The Ministry is focused on developing comprehensive solutions to minimize the impact of rain events during the winter season. Keeping up with the latest news and updates on these initiatives is essential to stay informed about the progress and developments in the UAE’s drainage and road repair projects.
