The UAE Jiu-Jitsu national team is preparing to showcase their skills and make a strong impression at the World Jiu-Jitsu Cup in Zadar, Croatia on Saturday, August 24. The championship, organized by the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation, will see over 350 athletes from 24 countries competing in various age groups and weight divisions. The UAE team, consisting of 21 athletes, left for Croatia with the aim of asserting their dominance in continental and international competitions.

This will be the UAE team’s fourth international appearance this year, following successful outings at the Jiu-Jitsu Asian Championship, Grand Prix Thailand Open, and Jiu-Jitsu Asian Union Regional Championship West Asia in Jordan. Mubarak Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, emphasized the team’s participation in the World Jiu-Jitsu Cup as a part of their efforts to strengthen their position in the sport and prepare for future events.

The championship serves as a test of the team’s readiness and provides valuable experience for the athletes as they compete against some of the world’s best teams. The Federation’s focus on youth development and skills enhancement has equipped the team with the confidence and preparation to face tough competitions. With strong support from coaches and the Federation, the team is poised to represent the UAE on the global stage and achieve great results.

The U18 team, led by coach Pedro Damasceno, is geared up for the World Jiu-Jitsu Cup as a crucial stepping stone towards the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Greece. With four coaches accompanying the team, including Damasceno as the head coach for U18, the athletes have received support from the Federation and clubs to ensure they are fully prepared for the upcoming challenges. The team is eager to put their hard work over the past two months to the test and deliver strong performances in Croatia.

The team composition includes top athletes in different weight divisions across various age categories. The U18 team will have competitors such as Obaidi Saeed Alketbi, Saeed Alnuaimi, and Salem Alqabaisi, while the U16 division will see Zayed Alhammadi, Hamdan Alnajar, and others representing the UAE. In the U14 division, talented athletes like Saoud Alblooshi, Mayed Alhosani, Khalfan Mohamed Alqubaisi, and Ahmed Alketbi are prepared to showcase their skills and compete for top honors at the championship.

As the UAE Jiu-Jitsu national team gears up for the World Jiu-Jitsu Cup in Croatia, they are focused on asserting their dominance in the sport and representing the UAE with pride. With a strong team composition, dedicated coaches, and support from the Federation, the athletes are well-prepared to face tough competition and achieve success on the world stage. The championship serves as a vital opportunity for the team to gain valuable experience and fine-tune their skills for future events, including the upcoming Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Greece.
