Ahmed Al Hashemi, a 14-year-old Emirati boy with autism, has made a remarkable entry into the world of music by learning to play the piano. What makes his achievement even more impressive is the fact that he relies on his sense of touch rather than sight to “feel every musical note”. This unique approach allows him to connect with the music at a deeper level and showcase his talent in a way that is truly inspiring. The young prodigy is set to perform at the upcoming Dubai Metro Music Festival, where he aims to share his story and demonstrate that individuals with autism can achieve great things through dedication and passion.

Ahmed’s musical journey began at the age of seven when he discovered his innate talent for playing the piano. Despite facing initial challenges and rejections from music schools that doubted his abilities, he persevered and found a music teacher who believed in him. With determination and hard work, Ahmed has achieved what no other Emirati child has in the field of music, including performing internationally, composing music, and receiving a recognized diploma from a British university. His mother, Eman Al Alili, has been a constant source of support and encouragement for Ahmed, guiding him through his musical education and helping him overcome obstacles along the way.

Ahmed’s diagnosis of autism at a young age presented challenges for both him and his family, but through music, he has found a way to express himself and connect with others in a meaningful way. The piano has become a source of joy and comfort for Ahmed, allowing him to communicate his emotions and express his creativity in ways that words cannot capture. Through intensive practice and dedication, Ahmed has honed his skills and continues to strive for excellence in his musical pursuits, aiming to obtain a university bachelorette and participate in events both locally and abroad to showcase his talent to a wider audience.

Music has become Ahmed’s voice, allowing him to convey his feelings and emotions in a way that transcends language barriers. Alongside his passion for music, Ahmed enjoys swimming, playing video games, and drawing, demonstrating a range of interests and talents that make him a well-rounded individual. With the support of his family and his own perseverance, Ahmed is set to make a mark in the world of music and inspire others with his unique approach and dedication to his craft. As one of the featured musicians at the Dubai Metro Music Festival, Ahmed is poised to captivate audiences with his exceptional talent and passion for music, proving that individuals with autism can achieve greatness and shine in their own unique way.
