An Egyptian man has filed a lawsuit against a female driver who caused a five-car pile-up, seeking Dh1 million in compensation for the permanent disability he suffered as a result of the accident. The man, who works as a manager, is seeking compensation for his medical, physical, financial, and mental damages. The Sharjah Traffic Court has already convicted the Emirati woman of reckless driving and causing the accident, fining her Dh1,000 and referring the civil lawsuit to the pertinent court.

The accident occurred on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, where the defendant veered off from the extreme right lane to the left, colliding with a vehicle to her left and causing a chain reaction that involved four other cars. The victim, who was in the third car, ended up with a disabled shoulder following the injury. His movement has been impeded, and he is unable to carry any weight or move his left shoulder properly. Medical reports confirm that he underwent surgery on his left shoulder shortly after the accident due to a “closed dislocation of left acromioclavicular joint”.

The Egyptian man has suffered pain and limited movement in his left shoulder, leading to the diagnosis of left acromioclavicular joint dislocation and the need for surgery. Surgeons had to fix plates and screws to his shoulder to address the injury. His lawyer, Hani Hammouda Hagag, stated that his client has incurred hefty medical bills and has suffered mentally and physically as a result of the accident. He believes that his client deserves compensation under Article 292 of the Civil Transactions Law for his financial, medical, mental, and moral damages.

A hearing for the civil compensation claim is expected to be held soon to determine the amount of compensation the Egyptian man will receive for the permanent disability and damages he has suffered. The case highlights the importance of responsible and attentive driving to prevent accidents and injuries on the road.
