As we move through the middle months of 2024, automakers are ramping up their game with big announcements and high-profile events. One of the highlights is the unveiling of the Lamborghini Urus SE, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid super SUV, in the Middle East. This all-new variant features a tweaked exterior design with optimised aerodynamics, a revised cockpit, and a new hybrid powertrain that delivers 800 PS of peak power and 800 Nm of torque. With a range of over 60 km in electric-only mode, the Urus SE showcases Lamborghini’s commitment to electrification and decarbonisation.

Meanwhile, Geely has introduced the all-new Starray crossover SUV in the UAE. Based on Geely’s Compact Modular Architecture, the Starray boasts a future-forward design with astronomy-inspired themes. It offers a luxurious interior with advanced features like seat ventilation, a Head-Up Display, and a 13.2-inch infotainment system. Powered by a 2.0T Drive-E 4-cylinder engine, the Starray is priced competitively starting from Dh84,900 and aims to make a mark in the crossover market with its blend of style and performance.

In another positive development, Al-Futtaim Auto Centers has become the UAE’s first multi-brand aftersales network to launch specialized maintenance and repair services for electric and hybrid vehicles. This move is in line with the company’s commitment to building a comprehensive e-mobility ecosystem in the country and supporting wider adoption of greener mobility options. With expert technicians trained at Al-Futtaim Automotive’s E-Mobility Training Centre, owners of electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles can now access a range of services at the 18 facilities operated by Al-Futtaim Auto Centers.

The launch of these innovative vehicles and services signifies a significant shift towards sustainability and innovation in the automotive industry. As automakers continue to invest in electric and hybrid technologies, customers can expect more eco-friendly and technologically advanced options in the market. With initiatives like Al-Futtaim Auto Centers’ EV maintenance and support services, the infrastructure for e-mobility is being strengthened, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future in the automotive sector.

Overall, the automotive landscape in the Middle East is evolving rapidly, with a focus on electrification, sustainable practices, and customer-centric excellence. As more brands introduce hybrid and electric vehicles, consumers have a wider range of choices that cater to both performance and environmental consciousness. With the introduction of dedicated services for electric and hybrid vehicles, the UAE is embracing the shift towards greener mobility options and setting new standards for the industry.2020 words
