The 2024 Pan Arab Ladies’ and Youth Golf Championships at The Residences Golf Course in Tunisia saw a strong start from the UAE golf team. Anca Mateiu, Aasiya Saleem, and Sara Abubaker are dominating the leaderboard in the Under-16 Girls’ Division after two rounds. Mateiu, a UAE passport holder, leads with two impressive rounds of 66, holding a seven-shot lead going into the final round. Saleem and Abubaker are close behind, showcasing the UAE’s strong title defense in this division. The team is aiming to defend both the team gold medal and the individual gold won by Sara Ali last year.

In the Ladies’ Division, Jamie Camero of the UAE leads after two rounds with consecutive scores of 69. Camero, a golfer on a scholarship at the University of Central Florida (UCF), has 11 birdies across the two days. Morocco’s Sofia Essakali is one stroke behind Camero, with Intissar Rich from the UAE in third place. The tournament features competitors from 11 countries, with World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points on the line supported by The R&A. The Under-13 Girls’ Division is currently led by two Tunisian players after the first round.

The final round for the Under-16 Girls’ and Ladies’ Divisions is set to take place soon, with WAGR points up for grabs. The Boys’ Under-18 and Under-16 Divisions, offering WAGR points, will run from Friday to Sunday. The Boys’ Under-13 Division will be a 36-hole event scheduled over the weekend. The leading scores after two rounds include Camero leading in the Ladies’ Division and Mateiu leading in the Under-16 Girls’ Division. The competition is fierce, with participants from various Arab countries showcasing their golfing skills.

Overall, the UAE golf team is off to a great start at the 2024 Pan Arab Ladies’ and Youth Golf Championships in Tunisia. With strong performances from players like Anca Mateiu, Aasiya Saleem, and Sara Abubaker, the team is looking to defend their titles in the Under-16 Girls’ Division.
