Five individuals were recently arrested in Abu Dhabi for participating in illegal hunting activities with a falcon. The Abu Dhabi Police apprehended the group in the desert area of North Khattam, where they were found with a falcon and their ‘catch.’ While it was not specified what species they were hunting, the act is in violation of the UAE’s federal law number 24 of 1999 on Environmental Protection, Development and Modification. This law prohibits the hunting, killing, or capture of birds, wild, and marine animals without the necessary permissions from specialized authorities.

In accordance with the regulations set forth by the UAE, animals can only be captured after obtaining the proper authorization from the relevant authorities. Additionally, Law No. (22) of 2005 in Abu Dhabi specifically prohibits the hunting of animals, birds, and reptiles within the emirate without permission from the designated authority. This regulation determines fishing areas, authorized species for hunting, fishing seasons, and the tools and equipment that can be used for hunting.

The incident highlights the importance of adhering to environmental protection laws and regulations to ensure the conservation of wildlife in the region. Hunting activities that are carried out illegally can have a detrimental impact on the ecosystem and endanger various species of animals. As such, it is crucial for individuals to respect and comply with the laws in place to safeguard the environment and promote sustainable hunting practices.

It is vital for individuals engaging in hunting activities to be aware of the legal requirements and restrictions governing such practices in the UAE. By obtaining the necessary permissions and adhering to the specified guidelines, hunters can contribute to the preservation of wildlife populations and the protection of natural habitats. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in legal consequences, which may include fines, confiscation of equipment, and potential imprisonment.

Authorities in Abu Dhabi are actively monitoring and enforcing laws related to hunting and wildlife conservation to prevent illegal activities and protect vulnerable species. Prompt action was taken in this case, resulting in the apprehension of the individuals involved in illegal hunting. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding environmental laws and regulations to safeguard the environment and ensure the sustainability of wildlife populations in the region.

In conclusion, the recent arrests in Abu Dhabi for illegal hunting activities underscore the significance of compliance with environmental protection laws and regulations. By adhering to legal requirements and obtaining the necessary permissions, individuals can contribute to the conservation of wildlife and the preservation of natural habitats. It is imperative for hunters to educate themselves on the rules and regulations governing hunting practices to prevent harm to ecosystems and protect endangered species. Authorities will continue to enforce laws to deter illegal hunting activities and promote responsible environmental stewardship.
