An Indian expat couple, Anand Kumar and Raji, faced a tragedy when their son, Sharat, passed away in a car accident in Dubai. To honour his memory, they established the ‘Student Achievement Award’ at Boston University, their son’s alma mater. The award is given to the student with the highest GPA. The couple plans to continue this initiative annually to keep Sharat’s legacy alive and give back to the community.

Sharat, a gifted student with a passion for politics and diplomacy, had an impressive academic record. He excelled in his studies at various prestigious schools and was actively involved in social and environmental causes. He was also a talented dancer and choreographer. Unfortunately, his promising life was cut short in the tragic car accident in December 2019.

Anand and Raji have been working tirelessly to honour Sharat’s memory and continue to support students in various ways. They have established similar awards at The Doon School and the Pardee School, recognizing outstanding students selected by the school management. The couple also sponsors tennis tournaments and supports individuals in need in Sharat’s memory.

Despite the overwhelming grief of losing their only child, Anand and Raji find solace in helping others and celebrating Sharat’s life. They believe that by giving back to the community and supporting causes that were dear to Sharat, they can keep his memory alive and uphold his legacy of passion and purpose.

As a remarkable student and leader, Sharat had achieved many accomplishments and touched the lives of those around him. Through their acts of kindness and support, Anand and Raji hope to continue celebrating Sharat’s life and inspiring others to make a positive impact in their communities. The couple’s dedication to honouring their son’s memory is a testament to their love and commitment to keeping Sharat’s legacy alive.

In conclusion, the story of Anand and Raji’s initiative to honour their son Sharat’s memory through student achievement awards serves as a heartwarming example of love, resilience, and the power of giving back. Despite facing a tragic loss, the couple has found purpose in supporting students and causes that were important to Sharat, keeping his memory alive and inspiring others to make a difference in their communities. Through acts of kindness and generosity, Anand and Raji continue to celebrate Sharat’s life and legacy, showcasing the enduring power of love and compassion in the face of adversity.
