UAE companies are not only focused on filling positions, but they are also investing in the future of the nation. By offering tailored mentorship programs and forming strategic partnerships with educational institutions, they are committed to developing a skilled workforce that reflects the aspirations and potential of the UAE’s next generation. During the opening of the 2024 UAE Careers Fair ‘Ru’ya in Dubai, employers emphasized the importance of attracting Emirati talent across various sectors. Fatma Hussain, Chief People Officer at Dubai Holding, highlighted their dedication to drawing Emiratis into roles ranging from entertainment to ICT. They offer a comprehensive “Leaders of Tomorrow” program that includes mentorship from industry leaders and opportunities for international exposure.

Dubai Holding boasts a significant Emiratisation rate and plans to expand by actively recruiting more Emiratis through initiatives like the fair. Dubai Municipality, represented by Fatma Sultan Al Hamrani, also outlined ambitious recruitment goals and strategic visions. They aim to exceed 150 Emirati hires by the end of the fair and utilize the Dubai Municipality Academy to sponsor students, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled Emirati professionals. The focus is on various roles, including engineering and administrative positions, with comprehensive training programs to support their development.

Emirates Group, through Manal Ali Al Soori, discussed their tailored engagement strategies for young Emiratis. They offer specialized programs for high school graduates and university alumni, providing hands-on training for various roles in aviation. Initiatives like the Supervisory Fast Track Program help high school graduates gain immediate work experience. The Emirates Group currently employs 3,500 Emiratis, with nearly half in middle management or senior executive positions. The commitment is to empower young Emiratis and create pathways for success in the aviation industry.

Nasser AlBlooshi, Managing Director at Chalhoub Group, highlighted their inclusive recruitment approach welcoming talent at all levels. They have seen a remarkable 45% increase in Emirati employees over the past year, with a specific focus on supporting women in the workforce. The goal is to create an environment where Emiratis can thrive, particularly in sectors like retail that are often overlooked. Faisal Al Zaraee, a recent graduate who joined Chalhoub Group through the Ru’ya fair last year, shared his experience. At just 20 years old, he was determined to explore career opportunities and is now part of an 18-month accelerator program within the digital marketing team, receiving training and mentorship while working with high-profile brands.

In conclusion, the UAE’s focus on developing a skilled workforce that includes Emiratis across various sectors is evident in the initiatives and commitment of companies like Dubai Holding, Dubai Municipality, Emirates Group, and Chalhoub Group. By offering mentorship programs, training opportunities, and inclusive recruitment approaches, these companies are investing in the future of the nation. Through partnerships with educational institutions and strategic recruitment goals, they are paving the way for young Emiratis to succeed and thrive in their chosen fields. With a clear focus on talent development and career growth, these companies are setting a positive example for the UAE’s next generation.
