The UAE’s Jiu-Jitsu national team is gearing up for the 29th edition of the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship with the aim of winning their fifth consecutive title. The championship, organised by the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation, will take place in Greece from October 24 to November 3. This year’s competition will feature a combined format for both adults and youth categories, with para and adult athletes competing from October 24 to 28, followed by under-21, under-18, and under-16 categories from October 29 to November 3.

An intensive training camp began on September 5 for the UAE national team, consisting of 37 athletes along with 20 Brazilian athletes. The camp includes three daily sessions focused on technical and strategic jiu-jitsu skills, as well as physical training to enhance the athletes’ fitness. Youssef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed the Federation’s commitment to supporting the national team across all categories to ensure they are fully prepared for the championship.

Mubarak Saleh Al-Menhali, Director of the Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, highlighted the importance of the training camp in preparing the athletes for peak performance and readiness. The camp aims to enhance physical fitness, refine technical skills, foster team spirit, and improve tactical awareness. The UAE national team has a remarkable record at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship, having won the title in the last four editions. Al Menhali emphasized the importance of the camp in analyzing strengths and weaknesses to prepare for strong competition.

In the previous championship held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the UAE outperformed over 40 teams and secured the top position with 14 medals, including eight gold, four silver, and two bronze. The youth team also retained the title for the fourth consecutive year in Kazakhstan, winning 46 medals. Shamma Al Kalbani, the gold medalist in the 63 kg weight category last year, is confident about winning again in Greece. Al Kalbani expressed her focus on mastering new skills, reviewing previous matches with coaches to improve techniques, and aims to secure submissions quickly in the fights to defend her title.

The Jiu-Jitsu World Championship is a prestigious event that tests athletes’ skills against the world’s elite competitors. The UAE national team’s preparation and determination to defend their title reflect their commitment to maintaining the country’s leadership in the international Jiu-Jitsu arena. With a strong track record of success in previous championships, the team is focused on putting up a great performance in Greece. The training camp provides the team with the necessary tools and environment to excel in the competition and showcase their skills on a global platform.

The championship in Greece will bring together strong teams from around the world, all aiming to achieve top positions. The comprehensive training camp overseen by top coaches and technical staff ensures that the UAE athletes reach their peak performance levels. The camp not only focuses on physical and technical aspects but also fosters team spirit and tactical awareness. With the support of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the national team is ready to face the challenges of the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship and continue their legacy of success.
