The UAE has been promoting parent-friendly workplaces through the Parent-friendly Label Programme (PFL) since 2021. This voluntary workplace award program allows organizations in the UAE to earn recognition for their supportive work culture and policies benefiting children aged 0-8 years old. Organizations like Mubadala, LinkedIn, and Nestle have earned the label through this program, impacting nearly 100 organizations and over 148,000 employees from various industries.

Parent-friendly organizations like Mubadala offer flexible working solutions, extended maternity and paternity leave, and childcare facilities to support their employees. These policies not only boost morale but also enhance productivity among employees. Emirates Nature-WWF and Tappy Toes Nursery are examples of organizations in the UAE that have implemented parent-friendly practices since their establishment, resulting in better employee retention, engagement, and satisfaction.

Parent-friendly policies create mutual trust and open communication between employees and organizations, leading to higher retention, satisfaction, engagement, loyalty, and commitment. Organizations like Mubadala and Emirates Nature-WWF have invested in fostering inclusive, parent-friendly cultures through wellness programs, flexible working arrangements, childcare services, and parental leave options. These initiatives have resulted in improved employee well-being, work-life balance, and satisfaction.

Annual employee engagement surveys at Mubadala show positive feedback from employees regarding the implementation of parent-friendly practices. The organization’s employees reported feeling emotionally and physically supported, being able to balance work and personal commitments effectively, and expressing loyalty to Mubadala. Additionally, an internal survey at Emirates Nature-WWF revealed that 90% of employees felt that parent-friendly policies improved their work productivity and overall well-being.

Recognizing the benefits of parent-friendly practices, organizations in the UAE are encouraged to adopt similar policies to support employee well-being and inclusivity. These initiatives not only help retain top talent but also contribute to the overall success of the organization. The future of organizational development lies in being parent-friendly, as offering employees relief and support to strike a work-life balance can lead to tremendous growth for organizations.
