The UAE has successfully utilized Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to combat the promotion of narcotic drugs on social media and digital platforms. This initiative has resulted in the country being recognized globally for its efforts in reducing drug-related crimes, ranking first in the total reduction of drug-related reports and fatalities. In the span of five years, arrests of drug traffickers have increased by 103 per cent, leading to the seizure of over 78 tonnes of illegal drugs valued at Dh2.4 billion.

By blocking social media platforms and websites that promote drugs, both locally and globally, the UAE has effectively curbed the spread of illegal narcotics. These actions were made possible through collaborations between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, along with global partners such as Meta. The success of these efforts was highlighted by Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Minister of Interior, during a Federal National Council (FNC) session discussing the country’s drug control policy.

In addition to the significant decrease in drug-related crimes, the UAE authorities have participated in international operations, resulting in the apprehension of 179 suspects across 196 operations worldwide and the confiscation of 6.9 tonnes of drugs. Furthermore, the country has intensified its crackdown on money laundering associated with drug crimes, freezing 1,881 bank accounts and arresting 173 suspects. These decisive actions exemplify the UAE’s commitment to disrupting illicit financial activities and ensuring a safer society for its residents.

This proactive approach towards combating drug-related crimes reflects the UAE’s dedication to maintaining law and order within its borders. The effective use of AI tools to detect and eliminate the promotion of narcotic drugs on social media platforms has been instrumental in achieving remarkable results. By working closely with global partners and leveraging advanced technologies, the country has successfully reduced drug-related reports and fatalities, setting a global example for effective law enforcement strategies.

The UAE’s efforts in reducing drug-related crimes and improving overall public safety have not gone unnoticed. With a sharp increase in arrests of drug traffickers and the seizure of substantial amounts of illegal narcotics, the country has demonstrated its commitment to eradicating drug-related activities. By actively participating in international operations and cracking down on money laundering linked to drug crimes, the UAE is sending a clear message that it will not tolerate illicit activities within its borders.

In conclusion, the UAE’s implementation of AI tools to combat drug-related crimes has yielded impressive results, positioning the country as a global leader in reducing drug-related reports and fatalities. By employing a multi-faceted approach that includes blocking social media platforms and websites promoting drugs, collaborating with global partners, and intensifying efforts to combat money laundering, the UAE has effectively curbed the spread of illegal narcotics and upheld law and order within its borders. This proactive stance against drug-related activities showcases the country’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for its residents.
