Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) recently stopped an attempt to smuggle over 27 kilograms of cocaine into Saudi Arabia through the Jeddah Islamic Port. The drugs were hidden in a container that was supposed to be carrying a consignment of potatoes. Thanks to the coordination between ZATCA and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, two individuals who were meant to receive the illegal substances were apprehended.

During a routine inspection, officials discovered the cocaine concealed inside the air conditioning duct of one of the containers. This successful interception is part of ZATCA’s ongoing efforts to tighten customs controls for imports and exports in order to enhance the security and protection of society. By preventing the smuggling of prohibited items, the authority aims to safeguard the well-being of the country’s citizens and residents.

To further combat illicit activities, ZATCA urges the public to play a role in reporting any suspicious smuggling operations. Individuals can report such activities by calling the local number 1910, the international number 00966114208417, or by sending an email to [email protected]. Reports are treated with complete confidentiality, and individuals who provide accurate information may be eligible for a financial reward as a token of appreciation for their assistance in combating smuggling.

The successful interception of the cocaine shipment underscores the importance of maintaining strict customs controls at ports of entry. By identifying and thwarting smuggling attempts, authorities can prevent the flow of illegal substances into the country. ZATCA’s commitment to enhancing security through proactive measures demonstrates its dedication to upholding the rule of law and protecting the welfare of the Saudi population.

The collaboration between ZATCA and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control highlights the importance of interagency cooperation in combating illicit activities. By working together, these agencies can leverage their respective expertise and resources to effectively address security threats and prevent criminal activities. The successful outcome of this operation serves as a testament to the effectiveness of such partnerships in safeguarding the country’s interests.

In conclusion, the recent seizure of over 27 kilograms of cocaine at the Jeddah Islamic Port is a significant achievement for ZATCA and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. By intercepting the illegal drugs and arresting individuals involved in the smuggling operation, authorities have demonstrated their commitment to protecting society from harmful substances. Moving forward, continued vigilance and collaboration will be essential in maintaining robust customs controls and safeguarding national security. Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help authorities in their efforts to combat smuggling and uphold the rule of law.
