Turkish Ambassador to Qatar, Dr. Mustafa Goksu, highlighted the strong relationship between Turkey and Qatar, which has become a model for regional and international cooperation. The Republic Day of Turkiye celebration was attended by various dignitaries including Speaker of the Shura Council H E Hassan Bin Abdullah Al Ghanem and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al-Ghanim. The Ambassador praised the historical significance of the Republic Day of Turkiye and emphasized the commitment to democracy, economy, and society.

He also discussed the close ties between Turkey and Qatar, which have been strengthened under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The establishment of the Supreme Strategic Committee in 2014 has led to the signing of numerous agreements covering political, commercial, economic, military, and other sectors between the two countries. The 10th Meeting of the SSC is scheduled to be held in Ankara before the end of the year, where more agreements are expected to be signed.

The Ambassador expressed concern over the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, emphasizing the tensions and challenges faced by the region. He condemned the ongoing war by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, which has spread to Lebanon. Turkey is actively working to halt the war and ensure humanitarian aid access in Gaza. The country’s foreign policy is committed to finding a solution to the conflict, with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan engaging with the Arab-Islamic Contact Group on Gaza.

He also acknowledged the efforts of Qatar in mediation and humanitarian aid, along with other countries contributing to easing the conflict. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of solidarity between Turkey and Qatar in times of hardship and prosperity, emphasizing their commitment to stability and security in the region and for humanity as a whole. The strong relationship between the two countries serves as an exemplary model of cooperation and support for one another.
