The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) Chairman, Turki Alalshikh, has announced the commission of a bespoke timepiece to commemorate the upcoming heavyweight title fight ‘Ring of Fire’ between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. The unique watch, created in collaboration with luxury watch brand Jacob & Co, will be auctioned by Sotheby’s during the fight week, with all proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish® International. The exquisite watch, part of Jacob & Co’s Astronomia Art collection, is a rose gold timepiece featuring intricate figurines of Fury and Usyk, as well as details such as their autographed gloves and a dial inspired by the World Boxing Council (WBC) champion belt.

The auction, set to take place during Riyadh Season at Kingdom Arena on May 18, is not only a highlight of the event but also a charitable initiative. Sotheby’s Deputy Chairman, Michael Macaulay, expressed excitement about hosting the auction in Saudi Arabia and the opportunity to raise funds for Make-A-Wish, an organization that grants life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish International President and CEO Luciano Manzo, also expressed gratitude for the collaboration, which aims to help more children experience the power of wishes.

Jacob Arabo, Chairman and Founder of Jacob & Co., highlighted the significance of the timepiece and the fight, noting their tradition of creating bespoke watches for fighters. Both Fury and Usyk will receive one of these limited-edition watches as a keepsake of their participation in what is anticipated to be the first undisputed heavyweight title fight of the 21st century. Turki Alalshikh emphasized the rare opportunity the auction presents for collectors to own a piece of boxing history while also contributing to a noble cause.

The collaboration between GEA, Jacob & Co, and Sotheby’s for the creation and auction of the commemorative timepiece underscores the intersection of luxury, sport, and philanthropy. The intricate design of the watch, featuring miniature figurines of the fighters and details inspired by championship belts, showcases the craftsmanship and attention to detail put into its creation. The auction itself, held during the exciting fight week, adds an element of exclusivity and prestige to the event, making it a sought-after item for collectors and boxing enthusiasts alike.

The decision to donate all proceeds from the auction to Make-A-Wish International adds a layer of importance and purpose to the event. By supporting an organization that has granted over half a million wishes to children around the world, the auction participants and bidders are not only acquiring a unique timepiece but also contributing to a meaningful cause. The collaboration between GEA, Jacob & Co, and Sotheby’s demonstrates a commitment to using their platforms and resources to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need, aligning luxury and philanthropy in a powerful way.

The partnership between GEA, Jacob & Co, and Sotheby’s in bringing together the worlds of luxury watches, boxing, and charitable giving reflects a holistic approach to creating an impactful and memorable event. By combining the craftsmanship of Jacob & Co with the excitement of the upcoming heavyweight title fight and the philanthropic mission of Make-A-Wish International, the collaboration has the potential to resonate with a wide audience. As the auction approaches, anticipation builds not only for the outcome of the fight but also for the opportunity to own a piece of history and contribute to a cause that brings hope and joy to children in need.
