The General Directorate of Traffic in Doha, Qatar has implemented restrictions on the movement of trucks and buses with more than 25 passengers within the city during rush hour. These vehicles are now required to have a permit for entry, with a complete ban on their presence on 22 February Street at all times. This regulation was initially announced in November 2023 and was put into effect on May 31, 2024.

The route map designated for these vehicles outlines specific times during rush hours when they are not allowed to enter the city. These restricted times are from 6am to 8am, 12pm to 3pm, and 5pm to 8pm. The goal of this regulation is to reduce traffic congestion and improve road safety within Doha city.

To obtain an exception permit for truck and large bus traffic, individuals can apply through the website or the Metrash2 application. The application process requires specific documents including a letter from the project management, a work contract with Ashghal or the Public Works Authority, a copy of the company’s registration, and a copy of the valid vehicle registration. By following these steps, drivers can ensure compliance with the new regulations.

By implementing these measures, the General Directorate of Traffic is working to enhance the efficiency of transportation within Doha city. By restricting the movement of trucks and buses during peak hours, the authorities aim to create a smoother flow of traffic and reduce congestion on key roads. By obtaining the necessary permits, drivers can continue operating their vehicles within the city while adhering to the new regulations.

Overall, the regulation of truck and bus traffic within Doha city demonstrates the commitment of authorities to improving road safety and traffic management in the region. By working in coordination with relevant authorities, the General Directorate of Traffic is taking proactive steps to address traffic issues and enhance the overall transportation experience for residents and visitors alike. Through these efforts, Doha aims to create a more efficient and sustainable transportation system for all.
