Top athletes to compete at IMMAF Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi – News

The 2024 edition of the IMMAF Youth World Championships is set to take place from August 6–10 at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, with preparations in full swing. The championship will bring together over 800 young athletes from 45 countries, solidifying Abu Dhabi’s position as a top destination for international sports tournaments. The organising committee is working diligently to ensure that the event meets world-class standards and satisfies the expectations of athletes and fans globally.

In recent years, the tournament has seen a significant increase in participants, with 331 athletes from 23 countries in 2021, about 500 competitors from 42 countries in 2022, and a record-breaking 700 athletes from 45 countries in 2023. The upcoming competition will feature athletes aged 12 to 17, competing in three different categories based on age. The UAE national team has shown impressive growth in recent years, with 28 athletes securing medals in 2022 and 40 athletes achieving 12 medals in 2023, positioning the country as a strong contender among Arab teams.

The UAE national team for the 2024 championships will consist of 50 athletes, who will undergo rigorous training camps to enhance their mental and physical readiness under the guidance of international coaches. IMMAF President Kerrith Brown has expressed excitement about the upcoming event, expecting the level of competition to rise with the introduction of continental youth tournaments. Brown praised Abu Dhabi’s commitment to hosting the championships and highlighted the importance of providing a safe pathway for young athletes to develop and succeed.

Returning to Abu Dhabi for the IMMAF Youth World Championships is always a pleasure for the organisers, who are dedicated to promoting the development of young athletes in a safe and competitive environment. With an expected increase in attendance this year, the committee is focused on ensuring the success of the event and maintaining a high level of competition for participants.
