Red and yellow alerts have been issued across parts of the UAE due to thick fog on Thursday morning, with a chance of rainfall expected in the afternoon as per the National Centre of Meteorology. The NCM has alerted residents of lowered visibility until 9am today, with further drops expected in coastal and internal areas. The Abu Dhabi Police have also called on motorists to exercise caution due to reduced visibility during the fog, urging drivers to follow changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.

In response to the fog, the authority has reduced the speed limit on several roads in the capital to 80km/h, including Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Intl. road, Sweihan road, Mohammed Bin Rashid road, Maktoum Bin Rashid road, and more. The weather today is expected to be fair in general and partly cloudy at times, with a probability of some convective cloud formation eastward. Humidity is expected with fog or mist formation over some coastal and internal areas by morning, along with light to moderate winds, freshening at times causing blowing dust. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.

Temperatures are forecasted to range from a low of 26°C in some parts of the UAE to a high of 49°C in internal areas. It is crucial for motorists to follow the guidelines provided by the authorities to prevent accidents and ensure safe driving during foggy conditions. By reducing speed, staying vigilant, and keeping a safe distance from other vehicles, drivers can navigate through foggy weather with minimal risk. It is also recommended to use headlights and fog lights when necessary to improve visibility on the roads.
