The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Al Mussanah recently hosted a meeting with H.E Dr. Khamis bin Saif bin Hamoud Al Jabri, Chairman of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit. The event, attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Saeed Hamad Al-Rubaie, aimed to introduce the key pillars, priorities, and objectives of Oman Vision 2040, along with national and international performance indicators. The meeting started with a speech by Dr. Nasser bin Salem Al Baimani, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Al Mussanah Branch, emphasizing the importance of collaboration to enhance the education system, scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences has been established in alignment with the directives set by Oman Vision 2040. During the meeting, a presentation was given on the university’s vision, mission, objectives, and academic departments. H.E Dr. Al Jabri further elaborated on Oman Vision 2040, highlighting the need for a high-quality education system that is community-driven and has independent governance. This includes updating curricula to reinforce Omani identity, sustainable development, and future skills. The vision also focuses on building a national system that supports creativity and a knowledge-based economy in scientific research and innovation.

A panel discussion was held during the meeting, moderated by Dr. Munia bint Mohammed Al Farsi and Mr. Talib bin Hamoud Al Balushi. The discussion revolved around challenges and aspirations in education and scientific research. The meeting concluded with H.E Dr. Al Jabri visiting an exhibition of student projects and innovations, showcasing the efforts put into education, scientific research, and national capacity development. The event highlighted the aim of Oman Vision 2040 to establish an integrated education system with competitive national capabilities.
