The second meeting of the Saudi-French Ministerial Committee to advance AlUla development

The Saudi-French Ministerial Committee recently held its second meeting in Paris to discuss the intergovernmental agreement signed in April 2018 for cultural, heritage, tourism, and human development in AlUla. The meeting was attended by Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan and chaired by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Governor of the Royal Commission for AlUla, on the Saudi side, and Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, on the French side. The committee reviewed the agreements signed between the two nations and the progress made in transforming AlUla into a global cultural and tourism destination.

The discussions at the meeting focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of archaeology, sports, arts, and development. The attendees emphasized the importance of these collaborations in enhancing the cultural and historical significance of AlUla. Among the attendees were Minister of Investment Engineer Khalid Al-Falih, Saudi Ambassador to France Fahad Al-Ruwaily, and Acting CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUla Abeer Al-Akel. French attendees included Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak, Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire, and the Director of the French Agency for Al-Ula Development, Jean-Yves Le Drian.

The Saudi-French Ministerial Committee is overseeing the intergovernmental agreement signed on April 10, 2018, for cultural, heritage, tourism, and human development in AlUla. The committee’s second meeting in Paris aimed to review the progress made in transforming AlUla into a global cultural and tourism destination. The attendees discussed expanding cooperation in various fields, including archaeology, sports, arts, and development. These collaborations are seen as crucial in enhancing the cultural and historical significance of AlUla.
