SNF, the world’s leading manufacturer of polyacrylamide, has recently announced the opening of its new Regional SNF Technical Centre Oman (RSTC Oman) following a $250 million expansion plan in January 2024. This new centre will serve as SNF’s R&D hub for the entire Gulf region, reinforcing the company’s longstanding presence in the area and heralding a new era of growth and opportunity. By establishing this dedicated research and development hub in Oman, SNF aims to enhance its capabilities, accelerate product development, and provide tailored solutions for clients in the ever-evolving energy landscape.

The RSTC-Oman is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure including advanced laboratory equipment and specialized resources for polymer studies, focusing on high-performance anionic polymers (HPAM) for oil and gas applications. With dedicated engineers and technicians specializing in critical areas such as chemical EOR, water shut-off, hydraulic fracturing, drilling and cementing, and production chemicals, the centre aims to spearhead innovation, foster collaboration, and address the evolving needs of the oil and gas industry with precision and agility.

Proximity to project sites allows for efficient and tailored services throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring success with technical support and troubleshooting. The RSTC-Oman also provides knowledge exchange through workshops, seminars, and training sessions, empowering the next generation of EOR practitioners. SNF’s investment in RSTC-Oman underscores its commitment to Oman’s energy sector and aims to contribute significantly to sustainable energy production and economic growth, with a focus on in-country value, local recruitment, academic partnerships, and talent fostering within Oman’s workforce.

As a specialty chemical company and expert in water chemistry, SNF’s products are used to treat, preserve, and recycle water. The company helps reduce energy needs and carbon intensity while contributing to the responsible extraction of key mineral resources essential to the energy transition. SNF continuously improves a range of more than 1,000 products, which help preserve natural resources, encourage recycling, and improve industrial process efficiencies. SNF products have several complementary functionalities making them suitable for many applications such as solids-liquid separation, viscosity modification, and friction reduction, positioning the company as a global leader in designing and manufacturing water-soluble polymers.

Overall, SNF’s opening of the RSTC Oman signifies the company’s dedication to delivering superior solutions and services to its esteemed clients in the Gulf Region. It highlights SNF’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and addressing the evolving needs of the oil and gas industry with precision and agility. The RSTC-Oman serves as a hub of innovation with advanced laboratory equipment and specialized resources focusing on high-performance anionic polymers for oil and gas applications, aiming to empower clients to navigate complex challenges and seize new opportunities in the energy landscape. Through its investment in RSTC-Oman, SNF aims to contribute significantly to Oman’s energy sector, sustainable energy production, and economic growth while prioritizing in-country value and talent fostering within Oman’s workforce.
