The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning in Bahrain, Her Excellency Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, has emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to developing green and sustainable residential cities. This is in line with Bahrain’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 and supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal of creating inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities by 2030. Al Romaihi made these statements at the launch of a city planting initiative for the East Sitra City Housing Project, praising the efforts of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) Secretary-General and others involved in the tree planting initiatives.

The East Sitra initiative is the Ministry’s second project aimed at increasing green spaces, following a successful effort in East Hidd city. As part of their dedication to green living, the Ministry has introduced an initiative to provide each housing unit beneficiary in East Sitra with an agricultural seedling, encouraging residents to participate in greening the city. This initiative has been well-received, with Shaikha Maram expressing her gratitude for the Ministry’s efforts in increasing green spaces in housing projects, which not only reduce air temperatures but also provide psychological benefits to residents, creating a healthier living environment.

The CEO of GPIC, Engineer Yasser Abdul Rahim Al-Abbasi, has also praised the planting plan and highlighted the collaborative efforts of various parties, including Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Al Khalifa and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture. These joint efforts have been instrumental in increasing greenery across the Kingdom, contributing to carbon neutrality and air quality goals. The Ministry’s focus on sustainability and environmental initiatives is a step towards creating a more eco-friendly and healthier living environment for all residents in Bahrain.

The tree planting initiatives in the East Sitra City Housing Project are not only beneficial for the environment but also for the overall well-being of the community. By increasing green spaces in residential areas, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is creating a more sustainable and livable environment for residents. These initiatives are aligned with Bahrain’s long-term goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 and support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal of creating inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities by 2030.

The partnership between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, and other stakeholders demonstrates a collective effort towards improving the quality of life in Bahrain through environmental conservation and sustainability initiatives. By encouraging residents to participate in greening their cities, the Ministry is not only promoting a sense of community but also fostering a culture of environmental stewardship. These initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing the overall quality of life for residents and contribute to creating a more sustainable future for Bahrain.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning’s commitment to developing green and sustainable residential cities in Bahrain is a vital step towards achieving carbon neutrality and creating a more eco-friendly environment. By promoting tree planting initiatives and encouraging community involvement in greening efforts, the Ministry is setting a positive example for other cities and countries to follow. These initiatives not only benefit the environment but also improve the overall well-being of residents, creating a healthier and more livable environment for all. The collaborative efforts of various stakeholders further demonstrate the importance of working together towards a common goal of sustainability and environmental conservation.
