Geekend, the premier pop culture event in Qatar, is returning to Doha Film Institute from June 6 to 8 at the Geekdom Building on Lusail Boulevard. This three-day extravaganza promises an immersive experience for enthusiasts of all ages and interests, with a diverse range of activities, markets, and shows. Daily passes are available for just 20 QAR, offering access to a world of creativity and fandom.

The event provides a unique platform for local talent to showcase their passion for pop culture, with experiences that engage and inspire. Geekend features the ever-popular Geekdom Market, thrilling games, competitions, workshops, and stage programmes. Abdulla Al Mosallam, Chief Administrative Officer of Doha Film Institute and Founder of Geekdom, expressed excitement about the event, highlighting its significance in Qatar’s creative community.

Visitors to Geekend can explore a rare collection of memorabilia at the artist and vendor alley curated by 23 collectors from Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, and Oman. This space also showcases works by local and regional artists, appealing to passionate collectors. The event features interactive activities such as Mission Possible and Geekdom Side Quests, including the “Treasure Hunt” where participants decode hints and puzzles to uncover hidden treasures.

One of the highlights of Geekend is the Beyond Solar Gaming Challenge, presented by COREGAME and developed by local game developer Fadi Soufi. Players can compete in a survival-style challenge, aiming for top scores on the leaderboard. Additionally, the Geekend CATAN Boardgame Tournament, presented by Majlis Shabab, will see 16 players battling it out over the first two days, leading to a grand showdown on the final day.

The event’s spectacular stage programme includes Karaoke nights and events organized by Nakama, such as the Tokyo Street Fashion Contest, Family Feud Anime Edition, Nakama Classroom, and an Art Contest where participants create themed character drawings. Geekend promises an electrifying atmosphere for creatives, visitors, and gaming enthusiasts to enjoy a weekend of fun and fandom. Drawing participants from across the region, this event showcases its significance within the local creative community and beyond.
