The Qatar International Baja is set to kick off with a thrilling start at the iconic amphitheatre in Katara Cultural Village, where drivers and riders from 33 countries will embark on two days of intense competition in the Qatar deserts. The event will feature a Prologue stage to determine the starting order for the first stage, with local media attention focusing on rally ace Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah and other Qatari drivers.

The competition serves as the sixth round of the FIA World Baja Cup, with leading contenders Fernando Alvarez and João Ferreira vying for top honors in their respective categories. Alvarez currently leads the overall Drivers’ Championship, while Ferreira looks to maintain his lead in the Ultimate class. With a host of challengers aiming to close the gap, the competition promises to be fierce.

While Ferreira focuses on the overall title, other top-seeded drivers like Denis Krotov, Akira Miura, and Miroslav Zapletal will be aiming for victory in their respective categories. The event also sees participants competing for FIA Middle East Baja Cup points, with Ahmed Al Kuwari currently leading the standings ahead of Saudi rivals Saleh Al Saif and Majed Al Thunayyan.

A diverse field of motorcycles and quads will also take on the challenging stages, with Emirati Mohammed Al Balooshi leading the pack. The pre-event press conference saw QMMF Executive Director Amro Al Hamad alongside top competitors sharing their thoughts on the upcoming competition, with a focus on safety and preparedness.

The start location at Katara Cultural Village, home to the stunning amphitheatre completed in 2008, provides a picturesque backdrop for the race. The event promises action-packed racing and a test of skill and endurance for all participants, with fans eagerly awaiting the thrilling spectacle set to unfold over the weekend.
