His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, kicked off National Tree Week by planting a tree at Gudaibiya Palace. This initiative aligns with the National Action Plan to achieve carbon neutrality, announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. HRH Prince Salman expressed pride in the efforts of Bahrain’s workforce in implementing these initiatives, emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to environmental security and sustainability.

The Crown Prince and Prime Minister reiterated Bahrain’s dedication to adopting plans and programs that support development, with a focus on initiatives that promote environmentalism within Bahraini culture. By aligning national environmental goals with global efforts, Bahrain aims to be an active partner in achieving environmental security. National Tree Week plays a vital role in Bahrain’s afforestation plan, bringing together official and civil entities, residents, and citizens to plant trees and contribute to the goal of planting 3.6 million trees by 2035.

HRH Prince Salman expressed gratitude to those involved in implementing the afforestation plan, noting their support in enhancing environmental awareness, promoting eco-friendly practices, and expanding green spaces in Bahrain. He emphasized the importance of continued afforestation efforts in supporting environmental goals and striving towards carbon neutrality by 2060. National Tree Week will be an annual event held in October, encouraging participation from all members of Team Bahrain to contribute to the Kingdom’s environmental aspirations.

The event was attended by several senior officials, symbolizing the collective commitment towards environmental sustainability in Bahrain. Through initiatives like National Tree Week, Bahrain aims to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and foster a culture of environmental responsibility. By promoting afforestation and greening efforts, Bahrain seeks to achieve its environmental targets and enhance the quality of life for its citizens. The annual observance of National Tree Week serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices for the future of Bahrain and beyond.
