Bahrain is taking steps to improve its wastewater management with a new project designed to enhance sewage flow between Muharraq and Manama. The Works Ministry has issued a tender to upgrade the B1 sewage pumping station as part of a larger effort to improve the island’s sanitation infrastructure. This project will involve restoring the B1, B1C, and B1F pumping stations, rerouting three pressure lines, each 500mm in diameter and 1200 meters long, and constructing two new sewage lifting stations.

The B1 station will undergo extensive structural, mechanical, and electrical improvements to ensure optimal functionality. The tender process will be conducted in one phase, with bids evaluated based on both technical and financial criteria. Only bidders who pass the technical evaluation will be considered for the financial review. Eligible bidders must be registered with the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions (CRPEP) under categories A or B and must have office facilities and a local address.

The project aims to enhance the transfer of sewage between Muharraq and Manama, ultimately improving the overall sanitation system in the area. By revamping and upgrading the B1 sewage pumping station, the Ministry hopes to create a more efficient and effective wastewater management system to benefit residents and the environment. The construction of new sewage lifting stations and rerouting pressure lines will further enhance the island’s sanitation infrastructure.

The Works Ministry is committed to carrying out this project with the highest level of professionalism and expertise. By requiring bidders to meet specific qualifications and standards, the Ministry ensures that only reputable and qualified companies will be considered for the project. The successful completion of this project will not only improve sewage flow between Muharraq and Manama but also contribute to overall environmental sustainability in Bahrain.

Overall, the upgrade of the B1 sewage pumping station is an important step in Bahrain’s efforts to improve wastewater management and enhance sanitation infrastructure. By investing in projects like this, the government is demonstrating its commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents and future generations. With the Tender Board overseeing the bidding process, the Ministry is ensuring transparency and accountability in the selection of a contractor to carry out this crucial project. The successful completion of this initiative will bring long-term benefits to the community and contribute to Bahrain’s ongoing development and progress.
