In a T20I World Cup warmup match, the United States secured a significant win over Bangladesh, with help from cricketer Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh. Corey Anderson, a former New Zealand player, scored an unbeaten 34 runs to lead the U.S. to chase down Bangladesh’s total of 153-6. Harmeet Singh, who played for India’s under-19 team, contributed with a match-winning partnership, finishing 33 not out. This victory marked only the U.S.’s second win over a top-tier ICC Full Member nation in T20 cricket, coming after their first win against Ireland in 2021.

Ranked 19th in T20 cricket, the U.S. team, captained by Monank Patel, faces little chances of advancing beyond the group stage at the upcoming World Cup. However, the win against Bangladesh raises hopes for a strong performance in the tournament co-hosted with the West Indies. The Americans are set to play their opening T20 World Cup match against Canada on June 1, followed by matches against Pakistan and India. The group phase concludes with a match against Ireland.

The match took place at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston, where the United States emerged victorious by five wickets. Bangladesh posted a total of 153 runs for six wickets in 20 overs, but the U.S. successfully chased down the target, reaching 156 runs for five wickets in 19.3 overs. This victory over a strong team like Bangladesh has instilled confidence in the U.S. team as they prepare to face other opponents in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Corey Anderson’s impressive performance and Harmeet Singh’s contribution were instrumental in the United States’ win over Bangladesh in the T20I World Cup warmup match. Anderson, a skilled batsman, played a crucial role in the successful chase of Bangladesh’s total and remained unbeaten with 34 runs. On the other hand, Harmeet Singh, with his experience playing for India’s under-19 team, showcased his talent by forming a match-winning partnership with Anderson and finishing with 33 not out.

The United States’ victory over Bangladesh in the warmup match signifies a significant milestone in the team’s T20 cricket journey, as it marks only their second win against a top-tier ICC Full Member nation. While the U.S. team is ranked 19th in T20 cricket and faces challenges in the World Cup, the win against Bangladesh has raised hopes for a competitive performance in the tournament. With upcoming matches against strong opponents like Pakistan and India, the Americans are gearing up to showcase their skills on the global stage.
