The Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa) recently announced a new brand identity for its group of companies. This move is seen as a significant step in the transformation and growth of Taqa, aligning with the company’s strategy to expand by offering integrated power and water services both in the UAE and globally. Taqa’s activities encompass the entire utility value chain, including generation, transmission, distribution, water solutions, and energy services. One of the key changes is the consolidation of Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) under a single new brand, Taqa Distribution, serving customers across Abu Dhabi.

By bringing ADDC and AADC under one brand, Taqa aims to enhance its customer-facing business, improve customer services, introduce new products and services, and explore growth opportunities within the UAE and on an international level. Additionally, Taqa Distribution will play a crucial role in championing low carbon power and water while focusing on operational efficiency, maintaining high standards, and collaborating seamlessly with the company’s other entities. Other Taqa operating companies, including Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco), Sustainable Water Solutions Holdings (SWS Holdings), and Abu Dhabi Energy Services (ADES), will also be rebranded to align with Taqa’s new brand identity.

Jasim Husain Thabet, Taqa’s group CEO and managing director, emphasized the company’s commitment to driving improvements in performance, growing the business, and increasing its visibility through the new brand structure. He highlighted Taqa’s role as a national champion in the UAE and its efforts to support the country’s transition towards net zero emissions. Omar Al Hashmi, the incoming CEO of Taqa Distribution, emphasized the unified entity’s ability to support Taqa’s mission of becoming a low-carbon power and water champion. Customers can expect to see the new Taqa Distribution brand on their bills and in branches starting from January 2025.

Looking ahead, Taqa aims to leverage its market-leading businesses’ operational excellence, enhance digital and advanced technology capabilities, and strengthen strategic partnerships to achieve long-term growth in line with sustainability and ESG targets. The rebranding initiative underscores Taqa’s dedication to serving communities, providing essential energy and water services, and maintaining high standards of excellence. By unifying its operating companies under a single brand and focusing on sustainability and growth, Taqa is poised to further establish itself as a key player in the integrated utilities sector in the UAE and beyond.
