Iga Swiatek, the world number one, admitted to feeling exhausted at Wimbledon and suffered a shocking third-round defeat against Yulia Putintseva. Putintseva managed to end Swiatek’s 21-match winning streak with a hard-fought 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory on Court One. On the same day, Andy Murray’s Wimbledon career came to an end as his mixed doubles partner Emma Raducanu withdrew from the event, denying Murray a final appearance at the All England Club. Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion, is set to retire after the Paris Olympics and was looking forward to this last appearance.

Murray, who was scheduled to play in the mixed doubles with Raducanu after losing in the men’s doubles, was left without a final Wimbledon swansong as Raducanu pulled out due to a wrist problem. Swiatek, who won her fourth French Open title and fifth Grand Slam last month, struggled with fatigue at Wimbledon. Despite her recent success, Swiatek failed to summon the energy needed to overcome Putintseva, whom she once again lost to at Wimbledon. Swiatek acknowledged the need to rest properly after her clay-court season and vowed to recover better physically and mentally in the future.

Iga Swiatek, a four-time French Open winner, has historically not performed well on the grass at the All England Club. One such example is Ons Jabeur, who had a painful defeat in the third round against Elina Svitolina. Jabeur’s dream to win Wimbledon was dashed yet again, as she fell 6-1, 7-6(4) to Svitolina. Despite the loss, Svitolina praised Jabeur’s talent and expressed satisfaction with her own performance. On the men’s side, fourth seed Alexander Zverev reached the fourth round by defeating Britain’s Cameron Norrie in an epic match under the Centre Court roof.

In the men’s singles, Zverev faced an injury scare but managed to beat Norrie in straight sets, advancing to the fourth round for the third time in his career. Last year’s Wimbledon semi-finalist Daniil Medvedev also secured a spot in the fourth round after a hard-fought victory against Jan-Lennard Struff. Medvedev endured rain delays and a comeback attempt from Struff to win the match in four sets. The tournament continues to deliver exciting matches and unexpected results, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as players battle for a spot in the later rounds.
