England’s cricket captain Ben Stokes is set to return to the England Test side after missing the series victory against Sri Lanka. This announcement came from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as they revealed the 17-member squad for the upcoming tour of Pakistan in October. Stokes had been recovering from a hamstring tear sustained during The Hundred tournament last month, while Zak Crawley is also making his return after a finger fracture in July.

The tour of Pakistan, scheduled to start from October 7, will see England facing off against the hosts in a three-match series. The ECB stated that they are pleased to have Crawley and Stokes back in the squad for the upcoming tour, as both players continue their recovery process. Spinner Rehan Ahmed, who made his red-ball debut during the last Pakistan tour in December 2022, returns alongside Jack Leach, who will be featuring for the first time since the Test series in India earlier this year.

The England squad for the Pakistan tour includes young talents like Josh Hull, who recently made his Test debut against Sri Lanka, along with uncapped players Brydon Carse and Jordan Cox. The squad also features eight players from the previous Test series, where England secured a 3-0 victory against Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board is expected to announce the venues for the upcoming series later this week, adding to the excitement surrounding the tour.

The England men’s Test squad for the tour of Pakistan includes a mix of experienced players like Stokes, Joe Root, and Chris Woakes, alongside promising young talents such as Harry Brook and Gus Atkinson. With a balanced squad that combines youth and experience, England will be looking to continue their winning momentum from the previous series against Sri Lanka. The inclusion of players like Rehan Ahmed and Jack Leach adds depth to the spin department, offering options for the team in different playing conditions.

As England prepares to take on Pakistan in their upcoming Test series, the return of captain Ben Stokes and the inclusion of key players like Zak Crawley and Jack Leach will bolster the team’s strength. The squad’s composition reflects a mix of established names and upcoming talents, providing a well-rounded group capable of performing in different situations. With the tour of Pakistan on the horizon, England will be aiming to build on their recent successes and continue their dominance in Test cricket. Stay tuned for updates on the series venues as the Pakistan Cricket Board prepares to announce them in the coming days.
