stc group successfully delivered robust network connectivity to over 12 million visitors during Riyadh Season, a major entertainment and sports festival in Saudi Arabia. The company, a leading digital enabler in the Kingdom, provided advanced 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi infrastructure to support the event’s numerous zones and attractions. This marks the fifth year of stc group’s partnership with Riyadh Season, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation and tourism goals.

The festival, which concluded recently, saw high demand for data services, with over 15,000 terabytes of network capacity utilized. Voice traffic also remained high, exceeding 2.8 million calls throughout the season. The infrastructure supported both local attendees and over 10,000 international roaming customers, according to stc group.

Enhancing the Riyadh Season Experience with Advanced Network Infrastructure

Riyadh Season is a key component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, an ambitious plan to diversify the nation’s economy and enhance its global appeal. The event aims to position Riyadh as a leading destination for entertainment, sports, and cultural experiences. stc group’s role in providing reliable and high-speed network connectivity has been crucial to achieving this objective.

To meet the demands of the large crowds and diverse event locations, stc group significantly expanded its network capabilities. This included the deployment of 34 fixed and mobile 5G towers in outdoor areas and 24 towers within indoor venues, alongside two additional cell towers. The total number of coverage sites reached 60, supported by over 2,500 antennas designed to facilitate Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Real-Time Monitoring and Optimization

Maintaining consistent service quality across the expansive Riyadh Season footprint required proactive network management. stc group implemented advanced machine-learning solutions to monitor network performance in real-time. This allowed engineers to identify and address potential issues before they impacted visitors.

Network operations were staffed 24/7 to ensure uninterrupted service, particularly during peak event times. This constant vigilance helped prevent disruptions and maintain a seamless digital experience for attendees. The company’s investment in infrastructure and monitoring systems demonstrates a commitment to reliability.

Supporting Saudi Vision 2030

stc group’s involvement extends beyond simply providing connectivity. The company’s efforts directly align with the Quality of Life Program, a core initiative of Saudi Vision 2030. This program focuses on improving the quality of life for Saudi citizens and residents by expanding access to entertainment, cultural events, and recreational activities.

The successful deployment of advanced technologies during Riyadh Season underscores stc group’s position as a key enabler of digital transformation within the Kingdom. The company offers a broad portfolio of services, including digital infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital payments, all contributing to the modernization of Saudi Arabia’s economy and society.

stc group operates 13 subsidiaries across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. This regional presence allows the company to leverage its expertise and resources to support large-scale events and initiatives throughout the region.

Looking ahead, stc group is expected to continue its investment in 5G technology and expand its network coverage in preparation for future events and the ongoing growth of Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector. The company will likely focus on further optimizing its network through artificial intelligence and machine learning to anticipate and address evolving connectivity demands. The extent of future infrastructure upgrades will depend on the scale and scope of upcoming events and the overall progress of Vision 2030.
